What's the name of this movie? It was from a while back, don't recall it being a popular hit though.?

there was this movie, produced a while back. About a guy who loved/had
an affair with this girl and her father, I think was a powerful man
who had didn't approve of her dating him or his type. And one evening
the guy was on his way to see her but he was caught and was dragged by
the girl's father's henchmen and was tortured by them and I think they
put hot oil on him (it was some black liquid) using a blade or
something. He later on appeared in a barn and was tending to his
wounds with what seemed like butter. :/
